Barry Sidings Countryside Park, Pontypridd, UK
1875 Gyfeillon Road Pontypridd Wales CF37 GB

Barry Sidings Country Park is a wonderful destination for all the family, reclaimed from the world-famous industrial landscape of the Rhondda.
The stunning venue near Trehafod and is packed with trails to explore, as well as a popular BMX track, one of the best children’s playgrounds around, a duck pond and picnic/barbecue areas.

Many families take advantage of the park on a warm day, using the area’s extensive network of trails – most of which are wheelchair and pushchair-friendly – to walk, cycle or wheel their way to where the fun is!

A game of football or Frisbee on the large, open play area is always a must, before heading up to see the ducks or fishermen at the pond or hanging out in the playground, which is one of the best of its kind in the area, with a range of great play equipment.

A quick drink, snack or ice cream in the seasonal café is the perfect pit stop, before more time is spent exploring the wonderful nature that surrounds the paths and trails that network the park and the surrounding area.

There is also a great BMX track for the kids to enjoy and loads of space to run free, play catch and football or just relax amid the peaceful surroundings of Mother Nature.

What better way to end the day than with a picnic or even a barbecue? There are loads of eating areas dotted throughout the park for you to enjoy.

Popular with cyclists, walkers and horse-riders alike, the park now has colourful new information points, thanks to Welsh Government funding, to help you explore.

From pathways leading into the shaded canopy of the surrounding forestry, to riverside walks to the nearby attractions of historic town Pontypridd and Rhondda Heritage Park Museum, there is something for everyone.

Barry Sidings has its own circular trail, where you can spot a wealth of wildlife, and is also part of the wider Pontypridd Circular, which takes you for miles over diverse terrain including rugged open spaces, historic sites and ancient woodlands.
